Xuguang Peanuts offers eight tips to boost peanut yields: 1. Choose superior varieties. Select high-yielding, high-quality new cultivars such as Luhua 14, Huayu 16, 8802‑1, and Shuanghua 20. 2. Deep plowing and ample base fertilization. Before tilling, apply a layer of farmyard manure at 2,500 kg per 667 square meters. At the same time, incorporate into the ridges 15 kg of urea, 50 kg of calcium superphosphate, and 15 kg of potassium chloride per 667 square meters. 3. Maintain an appropriate planting density. For plastic-mulched peanuts, set ridge spacing at 90 cm, with a ridge width of 70 cm, and sow two rows per ridge, aiming for approximately 7,400 plants per 667 square meters. 4. Pinch the growing tip of peanut plants during the rosette stage.
Xuguang Peanuts Shares Eight Tips to Boost Peanut Yields:
1. Select superior varieties. Choose high-yielding, high-quality new cultivars, such as Luhua 14, Huayu 16, 8802–1, and Shuanghua 20.
2. Deep tillage and adequate base fertilization. Before plowing, apply a layer of farmyard manure at a rate of 2,500 kg per 667 square meters. At the same time, incorporate into the ridges 15 kg of urea, 50 kg of calcium superphosphate, and 15 kg of potassium chloride per 667 square meters.
3. Ensure an appropriate plant density. With a ridge spacing of 90 cm and a ridge width of 70 cm, sow two rows of peanuts, aiming for approximately 7,400 plants per 667 square meters.
4. Pinching of peanut plants. During the rosette stage, remove the main stem, leaving only the first and second pairs of lateral branches. After removing the main stem, the first pair of lateral branches grow 1.2–2.7 cm, while the second pair grows 9–10 cm, resulting in a yield increase of 10%–14%.
5. Press soil over the branches. In the later stages of flowering, on a clear afternoon, place a handful of pig or sheep manure along with a small amount of phosphate fertilizer in the center of the plant, then cover it with two to three shovelfuls of soil. During dry periods, irrigate first, then press the soil.
6. Foliar application of paclobutrazol for rational growth regulation. Thirty to fifty days after flowering, spray the foliage with a 0.1% solution of paclobutrazol to restrain upward growth and promote downward development, thereby preventing canopy closure and lodging.
7. Foliar fertilization: Apply a high-efficiency, fast-acting foliar fertilizer—such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate—once during the flowering stage, once during the needle‑setting stage, and once during the pod‑forming stage.
8. Hilling to Support the Pegs. For peanuts grown without plastic mulch, perform deep hoeing and hilling when the first batch of pegs has entered the soil and just as the second batch begins to emerge. During the second peak flowering stage, apply a higher mound of soil.
